India, UK Join Hands to Strengthen India's Education System


The Indian government was asked to sort the issue relating to one year master's course granted by the UK Universities by the British side. Willetts mentioned that if the issue is sorted out it will aid the Indian students to pursue further courses in their own country.

The Indian delegation informed that the matter is being checked at the various fora. A keen interest in teacher's training and school leadership sectors was shown be the visiting delegation. The discussion was also made to strengthen the present programmes of educational cooperation between the two nations and to create new possibilities for cooperation.

The discussion was also made on finding ways to boost mobility of students, researchers, faculty and educationists between the two nations.

The delegation also appreciated the substantial progress that has been achieved in the two areas of institutional linkages and leadership development under the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) since its start in 2006.

In the second phase of UKIERI from 2011 there has been more than 1,025 partnerships supported in different areas. UKIERI has also provided a vibrant platform for a range of collaborations in the areas of leadership programmes, research and innovation, vocational education and skill development.
