India - The New Destination For Low-Cost Security-Sensitive IT Products


According to Rajan Mathews, Director-General of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), it is the end of India’s dependence on oversees market for IT components used in critical infrastructure networks. Indian producers can now offer testing services at a meager prize compared to the western counterparts. And he added that lower cost structures can lead to lower operating costs and reduced labor charges.

The positive move has already had an impact on corporate India. The software giants such as Tech Mahindra and Wipro have already expressed curiosity to set up test labs in the nation. Pune-based Tech Mahindra has revealed that it is closely evaluating the feasibility, business and financial aspects of establishing such gigantic projects in the near future.

In the words of Sirisha Voruganti, Head (device testing practice) at Tech Mahindra, "Authorizing member status opens up the fast-growing Indian market to implement stringent test norms in the said infrastructure. And telecom amongst all is very susceptible to vulnerabilities", as reported on The Economic Times.
