NEW DELHI:The `.in' Internet domain name registration has crossed the 1,00,000 mark in just over 90 days since its official relaunch, the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) said. `.in' domain names are held by registrants from 108 different countries, the most popular of which are India, Germany, and the U.S., which together account for over 80 percent of registrations, the NIXI said. India accounts for 62 percent of the registrants, Germany for 11 percent and U.S. about 10 percent. `.in' relaunch began in January with the opening of a 21-day sunrise period for trademark owners. More than 2,000 names were registered during this period. `.in' was officially opened to the public on February 16. More than 45,000 registrations of total names registered to date were clocked during the initial 24-hour period. Subsequently, the name has grown to over 1,00,000 names as of today.
