In a strategic move aligned with the company's commitment to the global services delivery model, iGATE Corporation's co-founder, Pittsburgh-based Ashok Trivedi, is relocating to India.

PITTSBURGH: Trivedi has been based out of the US for the last three decades and has focused on growing iGATE since its inception. Commenting on his move, Trivedi said, "Offshoring is the next big wave and there is immense potential for those who identify new opportunities and build on them. Being based out of India will help iGATE to spot these new trends and convert them to business." iGATE has historically been very successful at identifying industry trends early on, and "riding the wave" as those trends are adopted in the marketplace. The emergence of client-server architectures, ERP systems, and e-Business were trends that iGATE spotted early on. Identifying these major shifts in business models was key to its rapid growth in the mid 1990's when the company ramped up from $ 100m to $ 500m in less than five years. The recent acquisition of the first India-based BSP start up Quintant, by iGATE Global Solutions, is part of the strategy to expand the company's growing services menu and in particular, expand the scope of services that can be delivered from India. Life Sciences is another growth area that has been identified, and iGATE acquired the Pittsburgh-based Pittsburgh Clinical Research Network and the Mumbai-based DiagnoSearch to kick-start the iGATE Life Sciences group. Trivedi added, "Going forward, for our new business initiatives, the delivery capability will largely be out of India. My relocation will help in incubating our early-stage businesses, identifying new growth opportunities and recruiting high impact players for senior management roles. The recent appointment of Phaneesh Murthy as CEO of iGATE Global Solutions is the first big step in that direction." On the outlook for the future, Trivedi said, "We are buoyant about the offshore outsourcing of services and expect this to be the next growth area for at least the next 10 years. A large spectrum of services will be outsourced offshore, from simple call centers at the lower end to animation at the middle level, all the way to high value added R&D activities."
