How India Celebrates Dusshera?

In South India: In the state of Karnataka, this festival is celebrated grand way. It is the most popular festival in the state and in Mysore this festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the ten days of the festival. On the ninth day Aayudha Pooja is celebrated by worshipping different kind of tools. The Dasara procession conducted here on Vijaydashami is the most popular procession of Durga (called as Chamundeshwari here) all over the state and country as well as, it is pretty famous in other countries too. In Kerala, this festival signifies the beginning of the formal education for 3 to 5 year old children. The last three days are very important here, where on Ashtami, tools at home are worshipped and on navami day, Goddess Saraswati is honored by worshipping books. In the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, the women and children are very interested in arranging small dolls and statues at their home for ten days. In Tamil Nadu, they call it as 'Bommai Kolu'.
