Google Starts Searching Cure For Death!

The September 30 issue of TIME magazine will profile Larry Page and his decision to launch Calico. “In some industries, it takes ten or 20 years to go from an idea to something being real. Healthcare is certainly one of those areas,” said Page about his ambition to cure age and other health related problems. “Maybe we should shoot for the things that are really, really important so ten or 20 years from now we have those things done,” as reported in TIME.

Google has announced their new venture, Calico, on a Google+ post, however the other aspects like funding and employees count were not disclosed.

“For me, it was always unsatisfying if you look at companies that get very big, and they’re just doing one thing,” Page said. “Ideally, if you have more people and more resources, you can do more things, get more things solved. We’ve kind of always had that philosophy.”

"Don't be surprised if we invest in projects that seem strange or speculative compared with our existing internet businesses," he wrote on his Google+ profile. "And please remember that new investments like this are very small by comparison to our core business." Google generated $50 billion in revenue last year.
