Even Microsoft is not hoping all businesses to buy their Office software suite anymore, as the company’s latest offering, the cloud-based Office 365 suite have arrived at a more favorable price and with better updates.

In the past few years, Microsoft has been pushed too much by other software companies, especially when it comes to cloud-based suites.  And it was crystal clear, that these rivals where successful in luring businesses away from Microsoft’s Office suite.

Google Apps:

One of the most well-known alternatives is Google Apps, providing a wide range of offerings- from word processing suites and spreadsheets to slideshow and presentation apps.

Google Apps are primarily credited for their small price tag and easy collaboration, since the subscription rate is as low as $5 per user per month

Zoho Docs:

Zoho Docs primarily concentrates on collaboration and offers a experience similar to Google Apps. The only drawback credited to this suite is that it comes with 1GB of free online storage.

Other Open Source Alternatives:

Also today, there are a number of open source alternatives available in the market. Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice, both of which use the same source code, are two free, open source options that feature the same Office-like productivity apps.
