Brand Licensing & Merchandises Mapping Up India's New Growth License


Though all these trends are providing hints of opportunity but the path to achieve licensing success can be bumpy. However, few reasons which can make things difficult for Indians includes owners of Indian brands have just started to learn the ropes. Secondly still now the number of misses accounts more than number of hits. But again there is a ray of hope to see positive sides as the base for licensed products has been laid in India. Rising consumer approval of licensed properties and the readiness among brand managers to research with newer sources of profits are the palpable triggers.

Experts say that biggest force comes from the continuous growth in organized retail in India. Jiggy George, founder and chief executive of Dream Theatre said, "The missing link for the growth of brand licensing has been the organised retail." Dream Theatre is a licensing agency which characterizes Angry Birds, Power Rangers and Warner Brothers' consumer products In India. George further added, "Though organised retail is still 10 per cent of the overall retail business, the opening up of the sector to FDI will ease the way for international retail into India, which in turn will help this business grow."
