Jaswant Singh's "Jinnah: India Partition Independence"
pg 2
According to the official accounts of Indian History, Pakistan's founding father Mohammed Ali Jinnah is exposed as a villain, whose stubbornness resulted India's Partition at the time of independence in 1947. Former Foreign Minister of India, Jaswant Singh, penned substantial records of Jinnah's politics with astonishing impartiality. While nothing new was said, the book gained infamy, as the book was too critical for Congress leaders Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel, and it portrayed Jinnah in much reasonable way as he is often portrayed in India. This went against the conservative wisdom in India, and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) opposed the Congress party and which resulted in expulsion of Singh from the party. The book was banned in Gujarat. But later the ban was revoked by the court's order and Singh rejoined the party.
