Apple's Developers Website Hacked; Shut Down

However Apple did not comment on who hacked their developer portal and what was their purpose behind it.

Apple’s developer portal is now running the beta versions of its next big offering, iOS7 and OS X Mavericks. If the hackers break into developer’s ID, they might upload malicious content to the App Store. But U.S. company said that the hack did not lead to access to developer code.

“In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon,” Apple told.

And there were also reports that some of the developers also got the mail to reset their Apple ID, a trick used by hackers to get into the developers’ accounts. This suggest that the hackers did manage lay their hands on some of the developer information.

The breach is the first time in Apple’s history and the company has hundreds of millions of the users on its iTunes and App Store. However Apple confirmed that their system does not appear to have been affected, since iTunes and App Store are completely separate and remained safe.
