Sir Jonathan Ive, popularly known as Jony in the Apple community revealed that the company did not have faith in the iPhone and had scrapped it a number of times because of certain issues that Apple felt could not be solved during its earlier prototypes.
One of the problems that Jony thought cannot be resolved is that the on-screen keys would press automatically when the user presses the phone against his/her ear while on a call. There were similar other problems because of which Apple had last its faith in the iPhone completely and had started to believe that the product will not work in the market. Discouraged by such failures of the prototypes Apple had scrapped the project not once but multiple times before its launch in January 2007.
