Apple Beats BlackBerrry In India- Revenue Surges


Bangalore: Apple's iPhone has become the second largest Smartphone brand in India in terms of revenue as it almost trebled its market share, dislodging BlackBerry from its position and coming second behind Samsung in the last quarter of 2012, reports Economic Times.

Apple achieved a revenue market share of 15.6 percent in the fourth quarter, compared with 3.9 percent in the preceding quarter, reported Economic Times, citing an upcoming IDC report. This puts the iPhone manufacturer ahead of BlackBerry which has 6 percent revenue market share, and puts at second place behind Samsung’s 38.8 percent. In terms of volume, Apple is at fifth place following Samsung, Micromax, Sony, and Nokia, in the respective order.

On the contrary Samsung saw a dip of 12 percent in terms of revenue market share and shipments that quarter, the report noted.
