An Indian American Actress Who Serves the Poor in Jharkhand

Melanie first visited Jharkand several years before as a part of an undergraduate project and seeing the pathetic condition of the state, she decided to do her part in the welfare of the state. She soon joined a group of activists by the name Jagriti Vihara and started working towards uplifting the poor.

In the next few years, Melanie along with Amit Garg, an alumnus of Stanford and three others established Hospital for Care with the intention of providing health services to 1 lakh villagers. According to Amit, "Melanie is full of energy. She has great perseverance when it comes to raising funds and managing sponsors, which can at times be a painstaking effort."

Melanie plans to continue philanthropic work along with acting and modeling and the compassion she has towards people’s needs inspires her to do so.

Melanie holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and has also worked as a management executive at Mckinsey and Co.
