If rumors are to be believed, the Indian cricketing squad is no more a team but a divided group of individuals with little mutual trust.  According to an article in the Australian newspaper Herald Sun, there is a clear division in the Indian cricket team as to who should be India’s captain where some players are of the opinion that its time MS Dhoni step down and they want Virender Sehwag to captain the team. “Sehwag is the man polarizing opinions, with some teammates calling for him to replace wicketkeeper MS Dhoni as captain while his detractors are aghast at the lack of fight he has shown in several innings, including his meek second-innings surrender in Sydney when he wafted an airy cut to David Warner from the eighth ball he faced," the paper quoted News Limited cricket writer Robert Craddock. "Frenetic opening batsman Virender Sehwag has emerged as the elephant in the Indian dressing room as under-siege coach Duncan Fletcher faces the greatest challenge of his career," the article says.

While the disappointing performance of the seniors like VVS Laxman  have invited sharp criticisms, even from the home country, on their mental and physical state and their ability to stand the mounting pressure. Many yesteryear players like Ravi Shastri, Kiran More and Sanjay Manjrekar have called for the inclusion of Rohit Sharma instead of Laxman. Likewise, many have criticized Tendulkar’s inability to score his much-awaited historical century and the ‘mental block’ he continues to overcome.

Dhoni who made his international cricketing debut in the year 2004, had an enviable rise to fame and has two World Cup wins in his credit as a capitation. But today as he takes his team out for go-karting, it’s his commitment, leadership skills and above all his winning touch that is being questioned.
