Markets close low, reversing previous day's gains

Mumbai: The Indian equities markets shut shop lower Thursday, reversing gains of Wednesday's trade. A key index ended trade about 3.26 percent below its previous close. The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was down 3.26 percent (provisional) or 305.46 points over its previous close and ended trade at 9,065.03 points. The Sensex opened at 9,098.08 points Thursday, lower than Wednesday's close of 9,370.49. The broader S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed at 2,743.75 points, 3.23 percent lower than its previous close. Other market indices like the BSE midcap index shed 1.69 percent, while the smallcap index was down 2.13 percent.
