NEW DELHI: Bullish on India, the Chairman of Yahoo, Terry Semel said that he expected the country to be amongst the top 2-3 Internet markets in the next five years. And Yahoo had every intention of being a "major player" in the space. Semel said, “It is a superb time for us to provide more and better products and become a significant player in India. Some of the things that we have been doing here such as Yahoo Mail, have given us a leadership position, helped us establish our brand and have a good share of consumers.” Stating that Yahoo's appetite in India had grown, Semel said the Indian Internet market was on the "verge of exploding" and the company would continue to encourage people who can move things faster. Mr Semel, along with Yahoo Co-founder and Chief, Jerry Yang, came to India earlier this week, to explore growth opportunities and interact with companies and partners.
