Fremont: In an age when every industry is promoting its products as eco-friendly, there are many industries, which use the black hat trick and package their products to seem green; which tempt the customers, but harms the environment in the long-run. Here are few green-washed products, i.e. products which are labeled as Eco-friendly; but are not.

Clean Coal

coal, coal mining, coal price, what is coal, energy, renewable sourcesCoal, one of the major fuels, has been adopted by several industries, with a hope to find an eco-friendly, or less polluting version of coal, but all the efforts have been down the drain. Clean coal, the word itself is an oxymoron, as it is a non-renewable source of energy, causes the maximum amount of pollution, and is the least-efficient, when it comes to the production of power. The amount of heat generated while burning coal is upto 65 percent of its mass. On an average, in U.S., over 100 million gallons of water is used by the 600 coal plants to cool down their burners, adding to the already existing ecological woes. Thus, coal is still used pretty much the same way it was prior to the ‘clean coal’ era, just the emissions are trapped underground to wrap the iron fist within a velvet glove.
