Bangalore: "The potentiality of Indian mobile phone market rests largely on youngsters and the country may add 50 million new young users within five years," said Madhusudan, CEO, Virgin Mobile. Intended to garner 10 percent share of the urban youth market, Virgin Mobile is making its services cheaper and has introduced its new free SMS plan, where users would be able to send 200 SMS, 100 national and 100 local on daily basis, free of cost, except first three SMS. All the new as well as existing customers will get the benefit of the new service. "Our research shows that youth have a high propensity to consume mobile services and are looking for solutions that give them the flexibility to use services as per their needs," said M A Madhusudan. Virgin Mobile, which entered the Indian wireless market just nine months back, has its presence in seven countries already. Targeting the youth, the company is planning to strengthen its operation in the country. The company is betting big on the handset market also. Presently, it has 33,000 handset outlets across India. Madhusudan pointed out that focus will also be put on the mobile value added services (VAS). With organizing the national launch of the new service in Bangalore, Virgin mobile has also plans to expand its services in Karnataka. "Karnataka is one of our fastest growing markets and Virgin Mobile branded services can be used in as many as 334 towns across the state," said Madhusudan.
