VeriSign appoints Shekhar Kirani as VP in India

New Delhi: VeriSign, the provider of digital infrastructure for networking, has appointed Shekhar Kirani as Vice President, VeriSign India. With more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunications and wireless industry, Shekhar will be responsible for managing VeriSign India's business development initiatives and its locally based product engineering, sales support and product teams. He also will oversee and align VeriSign's India operations with the company's global corporate strategy. "I am pleased to welcome Shekhar Kirani to this vital new role," said Qi Li, Vice President for VeriSign's Asia Pacific Sales and Consulting Services. "This appointment reflects a great step forward in our commitment to the region, and Shekhar is the ideal person to take on that responsibility," he added. Shekhar joined VeriSign in April 2005 as part of LightSurf Technologies acquisition. At Lightsurf, Shekhar was responsible for the design and delivery of LightSurf's PictureMail platform. PictureMail provided services to customers of Sprint, Verizon, Rogers, Bell Mobility and many other mobile operators worldwide.
