Bangalore: If life’s a beach, candy sands, disappearing waves, transformed trolls are its strangest days. The beaches on this may not be swimmable, but they are all ultimate sights and are more than just extraordinary. Read on to find out how and why.

Vík Beach, Iceland

The idyllic town of Vik is distinct in more than one way. First, the town is Iceland’s southernmost point. Two, it’s the rainiest place on the island. And three, it has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world – only for looking, though, not swimming. It produces an image of white waves washing up on jet black sands like a beach seen in negative. The cliffs around glow green from all that rain and strange figures made of basalt stand around here and there like sculptures and are traditionally believed to be ill-fated trolls caught out in the sun.
