New Delhi: The collaboration between the US and India in the past five decades has led to several meaningful partnerships, especially in agriculture, a top USAID official said today. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with a budget of over USD 40 billion and nearly 2,000 employees, is an independent federal agency responsible for most US foreign aid. "Since that first partnership over half a century ago, the relationship between our two nations has transformed beautifully, delivering meaningful results for both our people," USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah said at a Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) function here. Speaking at the event to commemorate the long standing partnership between India and the US, Shah said that is has paid rich dividends not only to India but has led to several innovations, which have a potential to address development challenges globally. Noted farm scientist M S Swaminathan hoped that this partnership will be more fruitful in the future.
