UK's ISOFT to invest $100 mn in Indian operations

CHENNAI: UK-based iSOFT Group plc (ISOFT), a global leader in IT solutions for hospitals and healthcare sector, is to invest an additional $100 million in its three-year-old Indian operations, a top executive of the group said on Wednesday. The additional investment would be made in the next three years mainly for product innovations, ISOFT CEO Tim Whiston told reporters. He said the continuing expansion of offshore development centre (ODC) in Chennai was certain to give the company a major competitive advantage in bringing in leading edge technology solutions to market with unprecedented speed and would also act as an R&D hub for next generation products. The employee-count of the Chennai ODC was expected to go up from the present 300 to 800 in the next three years as part of the expansion plans, he said.
