NEW YORK: Two companies headed by Indian Americans are in the Red Herring 100 Private Companies of North America list announced by the prestigious weekly magazine. The list is an important part of the magazine's tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. The two companies are NexTag, a comparison shopping website for products and services headed by Purnendu Ojha and Ikanos Communications, a developer of Fiber-Fast broadband solutions headed by Rajesh Vashist. "Five years after the dot-com bubble burst, innovation and entrepreneurship are thriving. The companies on this list are proof," said Red Herring editor-in-chief Joel Dreyfuss. "Companies like Google and eBay were spotted in their early days by Red Herring editors as those that would change he way we live and work," according to the magazine. Both Vashist and Ojha said the recognition corroborates the leadership positions of their companies. All the 100 CEOs will be honored during a three-day Red Herring Spring Conference at Monterey, California next week.
