Top 5 multiplayer online role playing games
Bangalore: Massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGS) are eating the online gaming space like wildfire. The popularity of role playing games among game addicted youth has transformed this genre of online video game drastically and today MMORPGs are streaming over the internet. What distinguishes MMORPGs from single-player or small multi-player RPGs is the number of players, and by the game's persistent world, usually hosted by the game's publisher, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is away from the game. Worldwide revenue of this gaming model already exceeded half a billion dollar by 2005 and continues to dominate to the present. While the specifications, platform, choice and subscription of MMORPGs change day by day, it's difficult for any single game to stay in the top list. But this year some games managed to stay at the top with cutting edge graphics, cheeky innovation and gripping story line. Here is the list of top 5 popular MMORPGs: 1) Guild Wars 2 - This new game follows up the acclaimed Guild Wars 1, taking a similar path of intense combat and simple fun with friends. The game has managed to stay in top reviews in most of the top website lists. Some classes seem to be weak in defense but extremely powerful in attack wielding the power of nature. The publishers have put in good effort to slice out classes, races, environment and the most important, combat. There are five races, which have their unique starting areas and pros and cons which will affect each class. The environment in Guild Wars 2 will be beautiful and flowing as players will join together to take on this new world. The combat will be the best part of the game as it is simple, fun and rewarding as players can use magic and weapons to defeat opponents. It follows the same model of its prequel and it's worth a buy. 2) Final Fantasy 14 - One of the highly anticipated games of Square Enix, gaming just went to a new level as we are about to jump into the online world of Final Fantasy 14. The storyline seems to vary for each race and you can choose your own path which is great for role players. There are 5 races, three which have a male and female character and two which have single gender possibilities. There are two branches of the story, Age of Adventure which deals with the villagers of Eorzea and a realm divided which seems to take a more evil turn and the vile and wicked creatures that look for total power. The game is set to be P2P. 3) Star Wars: The Old Republic - Star Wars is always considered legendary and has fascinated us through times. It is considered to be one of the greatest single player RPGs ever to hit us, and now, we will be struck with a lightsaber through our heart as we are now getting Star Wars the Old Republic in MMO form, where we can fight together to kill the Sith or even take down the Jedi. The environment is taken from the old game as well as the movie. There are 8 classes in all, each with their own pros and cons. The Jedi side and Sith side seems to be balanced. The game is set to be P2P and the game had become popular even before its release. 4) All Points Bulletin - Some of the loyalists of RPGs say modern MMORPGs sometimes differ dramatically from their antecedents and APB is an example. All Points Bulletin will offer a robust character creation system, player controlled cities, two factions . Enforcers and Criminals and a very competitive game play experience. The Pvp aspect will be the wars between these two groups. The world in this game looks awesome and all in all APB seems to take on a gangster and GTA feel. 5) World of Warcraft Cataclysm - WoW as it is commonly known, it's definitely something to be 'wow'ed about. This game lacks the overall story offered by Final Fantasy 14 but manages to be on top by having far better gameplay and combat variety, many games lack this, combat is what you will be doing for 90% of you time on any level based game. WoW clones have sprung up like mushrooms over the years but the latest World of Warcraft inspired fantasy MMORPG by the Russian studio Astrum Nival promises a totally new experience.
