Toonz animation movie released in the U.S.

Thiruvananthapuram: "Dragonlance", a movie made by Toonz Animation that is headquartered at the Technopark here, was released in the U.S. on Tuesday. Toonz Animation, Commotion Pictures and Epic Level Entertainment jointly produced the film and Paramount Pictures is looking after the worldwide distribution. Toonz did the entire production work for the movie "Dragonlance: Dragons of the autumn twilight", which is a fantasy novel by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman from the setting of the role-play game "Dungeons and Dragons". The film is directed by Will Meugniot, whose credits include "Stargate: Infinity" and "The Real Ghostbusters". The screenplay has been adapted by George Strayton, whose credits include "Cleopatra", "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys". "This is really a proud moment for us with our series for BBC 'Freefonix' attaining second position in TV ratings in UK. We look forward to capturing the hearts of the US audience," said P. Jayakumar, CEO, Toonz Animation India, in a statement to the press issued here on Tuesday. The animation uses an artwork style similar to that of the "Dragonlance" comics. Based on The New York Times bestseller, "Dragonlance: Dragons of the Autumn Twilight" is an epic tale of might, magic and monsters. The storyline revolves around a group of adventurers who meet after five years in the world of Krynn searching for proof of the existence of the true Gods and emerge as heroes while fighting evil forces of an army of dragons who overtakes their homeland. Toonz, since it opened here in 1999, has now become a major provider of animation to top U.S. and European producers. The company is part of the international business conglomerate Comcraft Group based out of Geneva in Switzerland. Toonz's client list includes the biggest names in media and entertainment like Marvel, Hallmark, Paramount, Disney, BBC and Cartoon Network. Toonz Animation offers its worldwide clientele end-to-end animation services including 3D animation, 2D animation (digital and traditional), Flash, Stop Motion and VFX on a full spectrum of media platforms.
