NEW DELHI: Over 70 Indian companies will showcase the country's industrial and technological achievements in a four-day exhibition to be held in Thailand beginning Wednesday. The "Made in India" exhibition is being organised in Thailand against the backdrop of recently formalised free trade framework between the two countries, said the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Tuesday. The show, to be inaugurated by India's Minister of State for Commerce E.V.K.S. Elangovan, is being organised by CII in association with the Indian embassy in Bangkok and the India-Thai Chamber of Commerce. India and Thailand enjoy good trade relations and bilateral trade is growing steadily, having crossed $1.5 billion during the last year, said CII. "However, the volume of trade is relatively small given the existing potential. The India-Thailand free trade agreement is expected to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries," it said. A joint feasibility study has concluded that a free trade agreement would result in significant trade creation. India's exports will increase by 42.71 percent, while Thai exports to India would rise by 113.71 percent. "The "Made in India" show is an effort to strengthen the communication links between the two countries, create more comprehensive awareness about India's industrial progress and also build new bridges," said CII. Over 70 Indian companies are likely to display their products and services at the exhibition. The delegation will represent a cross section of corporate India, projecting the capabilities of India's industrial houses from small, medium and large sectors, said the industry lobby group. The sectors include automobiles, banking software, chemicals, consumer durable, cosmetics and health care, engineering and electrical goods, software and IT solutions, and garments.
