Tata Power clocks 8.69 Bn net profit

Mumbai: The country's leading private sector power company Tata Power has posted a net profit of 8.69 billion ($207 million) for 2007-08 against 6.96 billion of previous fiscal, registering a growth of 24.84 percent. The company reported a net revenue of 59.15 billion for the period under review compared to 47.15 billion for 2006-07. The power major's annual sales have gone up by 3.72 percent at 14,959 million units (MU) in fiscal 2007 compared to 14,422 MU of previous fiscal. The company's Trombay Thermal Power Station recorded the highest ever power generation of 10,002 MU. Commenting on the financial results, Tata Power director Prasad Menon said: "The company has achieved significant milestone in the fiscal by financing its two projects under implementation - 4,000 MW Mundra project and 1,050 MW Maithon project." Tata Power has also announced a dividend of 10.5 per share for its shareholders.
