NEW DELHI: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) leads the top 20 Indian software exporters, followed by Infosys Technologies and Wipro Technologies, says the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom). While TCS is the frontrunner with revenues of 45.45 billion, Infosys Technologies is way behind with 35.43 billion and Wipro Technologies with 27.87 billion, says data compiled by Nasscom. "The combined revenue of the top 20 software and service exporters in the area of IT services, products and technology services was 207.46 billion in 2002-03 and witnessed a year-on-year growth of 18 percent compared to the total combined revenue of 176.07 billion in 2001-02," a Nasscom statement said Thursday. The software and service exports industry, excluding the IT-enabled service and business process outsourcing sectors, recorded revenues of 348 billion in 2002-03, registering a growth of 18.4 percent over the revenue of 294 billion in 2001-02. "While the top 20 companies have continued to grow at a healthy rate, small and medium enterprises have also registered 19 percent growth in a tough market environment and we are hopeful that in the years ahead many more small and medium enterprises would account for a significant proportion of the Indian software and service exports," said Nasscom chairman Som Mittal. Nasscom president Kiran Karnik said: "The top 20 software and service exporters continue to contribute over 60 percent and the top five contribute over 41 percent of the total IT services, products and technology exports from India in 2002-03. "This shows the Indian IT software and service companies are truly turning global. We believe that the growth momentum in the industry will aid more Indian IT companies to move to the 10 billion mark in 2003-04." Also in the top five were Satyam Computer Services, with revenues of 20.03 billion, and HCL Technologies, with revenues of 15.3 billion. Others in the top 20 include Patni Computer Systems (914 million), Mahindra British Telecom (634.7 million), iFlex Solutions (593 million), HCL Perot Systems (449 million) and NIIT Ltd. (426 million). Companies like Cognizant Technology Solutions and Syntel, which are registered in the U.S. but offer India-based services, were not included in the ranking.
