TCS opens largest development centre

HYDERABAD: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the world's largest global software and services consulting organisations, opened its largest global development centre built at a cost of 1.5 billion here Friday. Switzerland's President Pascal Couchepin formally opened the TCS Deccanpark at Madhapur on the city's outskirts. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the central Communications and Information Technology Minister Arun Shourie and Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata were present at the event. World-renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta has designed Deccanpark, which will be a centre of excellence for domains such as telecom, government, biological sciences and shipping and ports, and deploy leading edge technologies including .Net, opensource, billing, s-governance, and bio-informatics. TCS Hyderabad is working with clients and partners such as Microsoft, Ericsson, Belgcomm, ES, CSG, Tata Teleservices, the Andhra Pradesh government, Oracle and IBM, among others. TCS is India's only global billion-dollar IT organisation. One of the top 25 IT consulting organisations in the world, TCS employs over 24,000 professionals at over 100 locations across 55 countries. It services more than 1,000 global clients, including eight U.S. Fortune 10 companies. TCS CEO S. Ramadorai announced TCS would spend over 3.5 billion on creating world-class delivery centres at multiple locations across India. "As an organization, we are proud of having pioneered the Indian software industry, which is recognised globally today. We are delighted to locate TCS Deccanpark in Hyderabad, since our relationship with Andhra Pradesh goes back almost a quarter of a century," Ramadorai said.
