Suzlon Energy Ltd (SEL), ranked ninth amongst the world's top 10 wind energy turbine manufacturers, is all set to export turbines with a total capacity of 100 MW to the wind energy markets of US, China, Australia and New Zealand.

MUMBAI: “Of these, 72 will be exported to the US with a capacity of 90 MW worth $54 million. We are also in the process of closing a deal with a private Chinese entrepreneur and are looking at setting up 100 per cent subsidiaries in Australia and New Zealand,” Tulsi Thanti, chairman and managing director, Suzlon Energy, said on Tuesday. He said the company has already set up projects with a capacity of 325 mw for corporates in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Thanti said SEL wants to export turbines to the tune of 1,500 MW across the globe, thus matching the import in the country over a period of few years. ``We are hopeful of the Chinese market as the country has a potential of generating two lakh MW wind energy, far more than the estimated 65,000 MW potential of India'', he added. SEL has already set up a 100 pc subsidiary in the US -- Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation, which is negotiating projects more than 100 MW in the region.
