Sun Microsystems announces 'Sun Tech Days 2008'

Hyderabad: Sun Microsystems has announced that 'Sun Tech Days 2008' will be held for the second consecutive year at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Hyderabad from February 27 to 29, with supporting sessions in Bangalore and Chennai. Theme of this year's event is 'Open Opportunities'. Technologies such as JavaFX(TM), JRuby and other open source technologies in addition to Java(TM) Platform Enterprise Edition (Java EE), GlassFish(TM) project, NetBeans(TM) Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Java Platform Standard Edition (Java SE), OpenJDK(TM), Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME), OpenSolaris(TM), SOA using OpenESB and Sun Java Composite Application Platform Suite (Java CAPS), will be featured in the event. "Over the last few years, we have seen our developer population grow rapidly to become a massive 6,31,000 strong community, making it the largest number for Sun worldwide. The event focuses on open source projects and communities. Sun believes in the concept of sharing technologies so as to grow communities, increase participation and build new markets," said KP Unnikrishnan, Director - Marketing, Alliances and Teleweb Sales, Sun Microsystems India. "It is for the first time Sun Tech Days in India repeats in a particular city. Hyderabad was selected based on the overwhelming response the conference received last year in this city," said Naveen Asrani, Manager, Developer Relations India, Asia South & Australasia, Sun Microsystems. The event will be supported by IT firms like Oracle, AMD, Intel, Ericcson, Nokia, CollabNet, Sybase, Accenture, Webex, Parasoft amongst others.
