Srinivas to be Governor of American College of Cardiology

Bangalore: Dr. Srinivas Murali, an Indian American has been appointed as the Governor of American College of Cardiology, Western Pennsylvania. He is the director of Cardiovascular Division and medical director of Cardiovascular Institute at West Penn Allegheny Health System. Murali will serve as the Governor for three-years, from 2013-2016.

Murali is an expert physician in diverse fields such as heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and pulmonary hypertension. He has also authored many publications in these areas.

From the year 1991 to 2002, Murali served as the medical director of the cardiac transplantation programme at the University of Pittsburgh. He was also the associate clinical director of the UPMC Cardiovascular Institute and currently he is a Professor of medicine at the Temple University School of medicine.

Murali completed his graduation from the University of Madras and in the year 1986, he did his residency training in internal medicine from the Jewish Hospital and Medical Center in New York. He completed his cardiovascular fellowship training from the University of Pittsburgh and later joined there as a faculty member.

Murali is also a part of many committees such as International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Pulmonary Hypertension Association and the Heart Failure Society of India, in the American College of Cardiology.
