New Delhi: Czech carmaker Skoda's sales in India went up by 31.9 percent in 2008, the company said in a statement Wednesday. Skoda's global sales went up 7.1 percent to 674,530 units, out of which 16,051 were sold in India and 59,284 in China. The automaker's sales grew by 117 percent in China, the company said. "Although the future sales trends are difficult to estimate now, we believe that the demand for small vehicles such as the Skoda Fabia will grow worldwide. We are going to continue monitoring Russia, China and India. We also hope that our new models to be launched in 2009 will be a success, "said Fred Kappler, Skoda's board member responsible for sales. The company has five models - Octavia, Superb, Laura, Fabia and Roomster - in its global model lineup, out of which all but the Roomster are sold in India.
