Singapore home appliances major to enter Indian market

NEW DELHI: Ichiban, a Singapore-based home appliances giant, plans to enter India with the launch of new generation lifestyle products including plasma televisions, digital video discs, air conditioners and other kitchen appliances. The company has entered into a joint venture with India's Allied Trans Atlantic to form Ichiban Appliances India for product marketing, said a company statement here Friday. "The new generation range of products to be launched in India have been conceptualised and developed in Singapore and will be priced much below the nearest multinational competitors," said the statement. Other products to be launched will include flat plasma televisions, washing machines, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners and microwave ovens. "With the launch of these products in India, we aim to position Ichiban Appliances India as the number one company in the home appliances sector in the global market," said Atul Sethi, a senior official of Ichiban Appliances.
