BANGALORE: Covansys Corporation (Nasdaq: CVNS), a global consulting and technology services company, Thursday announced that it has been selected to provide application maintenance and development outsourcing to Sigma Micro Corporation, an independent software developer for the direct-to-customer industry. Under the terms of the contract, Covansys will provide ongoing development, maintenance and customization for Sigma Micro's direct commerce management software. "The flexibility of being able to quickly ramp up or down based on customer demand was extremely important to us. We also needed to be certain that we were providing our customers with high-quality software products and customization," said Albert H. Lansenkamp, CEO of Sigma Micro. "Outsourcing was the perfect solution. Covansys is not only providing us with access to a dedicated delivery center, but also with CMM Level 5 processes and methodologies. We believe this solution will provide our customers with the high quality and rapid development they deserve, while enabling Sigma Micro's internal IT staff to focus their efforts on designing and architecting the next generation of our product line." In February, Covansys established an offshore development center in India with J.D. Edwards to provide application maintenance and development support for its software. In the past ten years, Covansys has provided offshore support for more than four-dozen top companies, including, Guardian Insurance, Henry Ford Health Systems, and JD Edwards.
