Sewa International to Organize Sewa Day

Fremont: Sewa International is organizing Sewa Day from 11 September to 25 September across the country to develop volunteerism in the community and to spread the Dharmic message of Selfless Service. President of Sewa International Sree Sreenath launched the Sewa Day campaign during which he said, Sewa Day's aim is to enable people seek joy in service and to promote the idea of helping others without expecting anything in return. Sewa USA chose the September 11 to 25 timeframe for celebrating the Sewa Day in response to a call given by president Obama in honor of the September 11th victims. Sewa San Diego volunteers are removing trash and debris to cleaning up the Tecolte Canyon area on September 17. In Atlanta, GA Sewa volunteers are working with Habitat for Humanity to help build a home on September 25. In Chicago IL planned activities include visiting a nursing and an elderly home for helping their resident. In Cleveland, OH Sewa volunteers are helping the local Hindu Temple organize a Health Fair for recently arrived Bhutanese refugees. In Akron, OH Sewa volunteers are planning an Arts and Crafts fair to help the artists and craftsman from the Bhutanese immigrant community. In Washington DC metro area, Sewa volunteers are planting trees in association with Earth Sangha, an environmental organization.
