Service tax refund extended for exporters

New Delhi: The union Finance Ministry on Tuesday announced the extension of refund of service tax to exporters in three more services to help them fight appreciation of the rupee against the dollar. This includes refund of service tax paid by exporters on goods transportation agency, transport of export goods in rail containers and also on courier services used by them to transport goods and documents. The ministry had earlier given similar concession to 10 services in July, Oct and Nov last year as part of a relief package, which included services taxes paid on port, general insurance and business services.
