Satyam plans Rs 800 Cr investment in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: The Hyderabad based Satyam Computer Services, a global IT consulting and services provider, will invest around Rs 800 crore for developing infrastructure in Tamil Nadu. "The infrastructure includes a new campus in Chennai and Madurai," said Subu D. Subramanian, Director and Senior Vice-President, Satyam Computers. Satyam will build its Chennai campus in 50 acres of land at Elcot special economic zone (SEZ) in Sholinganallur on the Rajiv Gandhi Road. The Chennai campus will accommodate around 10,000 employees, and the first phase of the campus will be ready by June 2008. In Madurai, the Tamil Nadu State Government has allotted 50 acres of land to the company for building its Campus there. It will employ around 3,500 employees within three years. Madurai will be Satyam's first tier II city foray in Tamil Nadu, he said. Satyam will also double its employee strength in Chennai to around 20,000 from the present 8,000 in the next three years. Next to Hyderabad, Satyam has its second biggest operations in the Chennai.
