Satyam goes to Australia, sets up largest ODC

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Services, India's fourth largest software company, Wednesday launched its largest overseas global development centre in Melbourne, Australia. This centre will serve as a major technological development and software support centre for the company's Asia Pacific operations, Satyam said in a statement. Satyam had opened its first Australian development centre in Sydney in Nov 2001. Victorian Minister for Information and Communication Technology Marsha Thomson and Satyam chairman B. Ramalinga Raju, declared open the Melbourne centre in the presence of India's High Commissioner to Australia, Prabhat P. Shukla. The statement said this state-of-the-art centre will serve Satyam's Australian and international clients with 24/7 access. Speaking of the launch, Ramalinga Raju said, "The formal establishment of Melbourne's global development centre is yet another milestone in Satyam's efforts to seamlessly deliver world class solutions to our customers." Thompson said, "Over the last decade, Indian companies like Satyam have been paving the way in software and other IT services. Having a company... such as Satyam open a global development centre in Melbourne certainly raises the bar for the local ICT industry."
