Samsung to Unveil ChatON

Bangalore: Samsung announced that it will soon introduce a mobile instant messaging tool in its latest effort to engage more customers to all the handsets and challenge competitors like Apple and Blackberry. The new service, named ChatON, can be availed from October onwards, Preinstalled in Samsung's feature phones as well as smartphones running on its own bada operating system and Google's Android software. Samsung's new messaging tool will work on all major smartphones including iPhone and BlackBerry and will provide users to send text, images, and hand-written notes, as well as chat in groups and share video clips. With this, Samsung makes its entry in an occupied mobile messaging market, which telecoms carriers fear will hit revenue from profitable text messaging services. As Apple also plans to unveil iMessage, enabling millions of iPhone and iPad users to send messages to one another over the Internet free of cost, whereas RIM aims to increase the popularity of its BlackBerry Messenger with an introduction of new music service. Samsung plans to extend the offering to all Android-based smartphones and tablets, and it will also be available for download to consumers using rival Android, iPhone and BlackBerry models.
