S. Korea, India to cooperate on WTO negotiations

NEW DELHI: India and South Korea have agreed to join forces to safeguard the interests of developing countries on agriculture issues at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations. India will urge developed countries to reduce subsidies for agriculture exports to make developing countries competitive in the field, Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh said during a meeting with South Korean Minister for Agriculture and Forestry Kim Young here Friday. The South Korean minister's visit marks the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. Singh said India would provide South Korea a draft protocol of its stand on WTO for better understanding between the two countries. To boost mutual cooperation, India has offered its expertise in dairying in the cooperative sector, fisheries, piggery and biotechnology to South Korea.
