SPI announces acquisition of COMAT

Mysore: The IT and Business Application solutions provider SPI based in Mysore has announced the acquisition of COMAT Technologies to further expand its services line and increase diversification opportunities in Europe. As part of the deal, SPI will take over all U.S. and U.K. BPO / LPO customers of COMAT Technologies being serviced from Mysore. Over 400 COMAT employees working on Medical Transcription, Legal Transcription and Legal Coding Services will now be on the pay roll of SPI?s once the legal formalities are completed. This will increase the head count of SPI to over 1000 Sid Mookerji CEO of SPI said, "We are pleased to include COMAT's mature BPO business into SPI's repertoire. COMAT is a great company and we are excited with the possibilities that this transaction brings to the table for our existing and new customers. SPI hopes to use its expertise in QA, HR and Sales in addition to its state-of-the-art facilities to bring synergies to this transaction." The newly acquired business will contribute 15 percent of the total annualised revenues SPI expects to gain in FY 2007-08 SPI and COMAT will also work together to identify what will allow service delivery in the IT/BPO space. This is to be accomplished from the kiosks that COMAT is setting up all over the country. COMAT is a social enterprise providing rural e- governance solutions with expertise in deploying Information and Communications Technologies in rural and semi urban areas.
