SBI appoints Diwakar Gupta as its new CFO

Mumbai: IndiaÂ’s leading lender, State Bank of India (SBI) has appointed Diwakar Gupta as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, SBI said that Gupta will replace Hemant G. Contractor who has been promoted to a higher post of Managing Director of the state-owned bank. Gupta has been the head of rural and national banking earlier and was also interviewed for the position of managing director. In a major management reshuffle last week, Pratip Chaudhuri had taken over as the new chairman of the country's largest lender. According to the rejig of the top order, the current Managing Director and Group Chief Executive for associates and subsidiaries, R Sridharan will continue to discharge the same functions.
