Russia's Progress cargo spacecraft 'buried' in Pacific

Moscow: The Progress M-65 cargo spacecraft, which undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) Sep 17 and served as a temporary space laboratory, has been "buried" in the Pacific Ocean, Russia's Mission Control said Sunday. "The cargo spacecraft's remaining fragments fell into the ocean after re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere at 11.49 a.m. Moscow time [0849 GMT] Sunday," the Mission Control said. The Progress M-65, launched from the Baikonur Space Centre in Kazakhstan Sep 10, delivered to the ISS more than 2.5 tonnes of fuel, oxygen, water, food and medical supplies. Currently, Russia's new, digitally-controlled Progress M-01M series spacecraft is staying in orbit. It was launched from the Baikonur centre Nov 26 and docked with the orbital station Nov 30. The new space freighter delivered 2.5 tonnes of cargo to the orbital station, including food and water supplies for the current crew, as well as fuel and scientific equipment.
