Rolls Royce brings new engines to India

CHENNAI: International engines major Rolls Royce is planning to enter the Indian market in a big way with a new 20-cylinder engine. The new engine was displayed by the company at a function hosted by the British Deputy High Commissioner here Thursday. The B-Gas engine was made in the Rolls Royce Bergen facility in Norway. It is a 20-cylinder engine, producing 8,500 kw of electric power. "This marks the company's formal entry into the heavyweight class of the engine market," said Tim Jones, managing director of Rolls Royce India. He said the company has 296 kinds of power engine models working in 13 countries. "The flurry of discoveries and ventures in the oil and gas sector in India and by Indian companies provides a great opportunity for foreign engine makers," said P. Sanyal, executive director of Rolls Royce Energy systems, a subsidiary company.
