Righ time for grads to shape India's future: M Ambani
Bangalore: As the world is coming out of global slowdown, and India being one of the first countries to recover from it, Mukesh Ambani believes that it is the right time for young graduates to shape the future of India. While speaking at 35th convocation of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Ambani, who is also the Chairman of IIMB society, said to the outgoing students that you are graduating at the most appropriate time for shaping the new and resurgent India. "The opportunities before each and everyone graduating are historic," added he. Comparing the economy of the 80's when he entered the market with that of now, Reliance Industries' Chairman said, "Thirty years ago, when I entered the economy, the opportunities before me were not even a fraction of what each one of you have before you." Now with the economic centre of gravity slowly but steadily shifting to Asia and number of professionals from other countries aspiring to work in India, the competition for Indian graduates will be much more than before. "We have to seize opportunities effectively and in time and this requires leadership in all walks of life," said Ambani. Meanwhile, he with IIMB Director Pankaj Chandra announced that the institute will be increasing fee structure for post-graduate programmes (PGP) from the following academic year (2010-11). "For the next academic session, we have increased the fee for the post-graduate programme to 13 lakh from 11.5 lakh," said IIM-B Director Pankaj Chandra. To help the students, the institute has doubled the financial assistance from 2 crore to 4.38 crore (2009-2010) and if the institute gets 375 students this year, then the financial aid is likely to go up.
