NEW DELHI: The government is backing research to improve vehicles running on hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, parliament was informed Tuesday. Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy Sources Vilas Muttemwar said his ministry had been "supporting research and demonstration activities to develop hydrogen and fuel cell technologies and their application for over a decade". In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Muttemwar said research was on into emerging techniques for hydrogen production from biomass, biological, thermo-chemical, photo-catalytic and other renewable energy methods. He said a national hydrogen energy board formed by the government would give guidance for the preparation and implementation of the national hydrogen energy roadmap, which will cover all aspects of hydrogen energy.
