Raju's confession may be pre-planned
Chennai: The revelations of Ramalinga Raju have directly landed him behind the bars but analysts see some pre-planned propositions behind the exposure. "No person under such circumstances would have surrendered," said Rahul Mehra, one of the six members of a panel on extradition set up by the ministry of external affairs. It is believed that the presence of some top people in the government who assured him of all protection and the acquiescent laws of India has made Raju confident enough to reveal the fraud, reports The Economic Times. "If he had attempted to flee the country and had been caught by the police in a foreign country where he is wanted in connection with this case, he would probably never come out of jail in his lifetime. In India, at least he has some political bosses who can somehow try to wriggle him out of jail," said A K Vali, a senior lawyer. Surrendering before the world, puts the case of the fraudulent ex-chairman of Satyam under strong moral grounds. The court can be made to believe that if Raju wanted he could have easily left the country, could have tried to manipulate any witnesses, but he chose to submit himself to the law of the land.
