RV College of Engineering inaugurates "Virtual Instrumentation Club"

Bangalore: In an effort to improve the quality of engineering education in India and spread the concept of Virtual Instrumentation, RV College of Engineering (RVCE) inaugurated their Virtual Instrumentation Club under the recently expanded Planet NI( Nurturing Innovation) foundation. The Virtual Instrumentation Club was inaugurated by Jayaram Pillai, Managing Director for India, Russia and Arabia, National Instruments. Also present were Dr. B.S. Sathyanarayana, Principal, RVCE, Prof. Narahari, Director -Placement and Training- RVCE and Head of the IT Department- KV Padmaja among other key faculty and students. This club will seek to bridge the gap between the industry and the academia by creating an experiential learning environment for engineering students in the state as well as across India. It will also be instrumental in helping members with the development of projects based on real world applications, access to industry events, educational workshops, training sessions on NI LabVIEW, certification programmes and field visits. With participation of 500 students from RVCE and over 400 engineering students from across Kartnataka, the club is the first of its kind in the country, supported by the Planet NI Foundation. On this occasion National Instruments donated to the club, 10 Lakh worth Hardware and Software that can be used to help aspiring students learn and implement the concepts of engineering education through experiential learning. RVCE's initiatives to modernize, expand and explore newer frontiers of knowledge for the benefit of society is in alignment with the Planet NI philosophy of enabling engineers and future engineers in developing nations to achieve economic prosperity through education and access to technology. Pillai said, "Experiential Education is integral to today's engineering education as it encourages hands-on learning of engineering concepts using industry standard tools." Together in an initiative to achieve engineering excellence through collaboration, RV College of Engineering and Planet NI are committed towards developing quality engineers who can take our country forward with continuous innovations in engineering.
