New Delhi: German auto major Porsche's upcoming model Panamera will be available in the Indian market by October this year in the price range of 14.17-20.18 lakh, a top official said Tuesday. Porsche, which operates in India through the import route, will unveil the new sedan at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show, to be held April 22-24. "We are working on a simultaneous launch of the car in Indian as well as international markets. We are hopeful of welcoming the car in India by late September or early October 2009," Rod Wallace, managing director of Precision Cars India, the official importer of Porsche vehicles, said in a statement. Saying the company's dealers had already received "forward orders prior to the launch", he added: "This in itself is proof that the new Panamera meets the expectations of the discerning Indian luxury car buyer on all key considerations - luxury, sportiness and performance." The car will be available in three variants powered by a 4.8-litre V8 engine with a rear wheel and all wheel drive options. Porsche, which started its Indian operations in 2007, currently has four models in its kitty and sold 168 units in 2008. It sold 98,600 units globally during the period.
